Dr. Sita Syal

Biography

Sita Syal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. She holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, which she completed in 2022. Her academic background also includes an M.S. in Product Design Engineering from Stanford University and an M.Eng. in Energy Systems Engineering along with a B.S.E in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Michigan. Dr. Syal's research focuses on the intersection of sustainable energy and social equity, with a particular emphasis on energy justice, human-centered design methods, and community engagement. She employs optimization and agent-based modeling to address challenges in energy policy and cost modeling. Dr. Syal is committed to finding innovative solutions that contribute to equitable and sustainable energy systems.
