Dr. Siu Leung

Biography

Siu N. (Sunny) Leung is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University. He served as a postdoctoral fellow and lab manager at the Smart Adaptive Polymer Lab at the University of Toronto from 2010 to 2013. Leung has experience lecturing undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, with a focus on manufacturing and smart materials. He completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science, a Master of Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. His recognition includes the W.A. Miller-PhD Graduate Student Scholarship and the Ontario Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award. Dr. Leung’s research interests emphasize micro-and-nanostructuring of material systems, focusing on tailoring and optimizing multifunctional properties for a wide range of applications, including aerospace, automotive, biomedical devices, micro-and-flexible electronics, sustainable energy, and sensor actuators. His work encompasses highly interdisciplinary areas integrating principles and techniques from advanced manufacturing, material sciences, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and rheological sciences.
