Dr. Siu Leung

Biography

Siu N. (Sunny) Leung is an Associate Professor and the Department Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University. He has a strong background in engineering, having completed his B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science, M.Eng., and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Before joining York University, he served as a postdoctoral fellow and lab manager at the Smart Adaptive Polymer Lab at the University of Toronto from 2010 to 2013. In his teaching role, he lectures on undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, focusing on manufacturing and smart materials. Leung’s research has garnered recognition, including the W.A. Miller-PhD Graduate Student Scholarship and the Ontario Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award. His research interests are centered on micro-and-nanostructuring of material systems, with a focus on tailoring and optimizing multifunctional properties for a wide range of applications, including aerospace, automotive, biomedical devices, micro-and-flexible electronics, and sustainable energy. His interdisciplinary work integrates principles and techniques from advanced manufacturing, material sciences, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and rheological sciences.
