Biography

Siva Sivathayalan is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University. His research focuses on the static and dynamic behavior of soils, liquefaction, laboratory testing, constitutive relations, and geosynthetics. He is also the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Civil Engineering and the director of the Ottawa Centre for Innovative Concrete Engineering (OCICE). Siva holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, as well as an M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the field of geotechnical engineering, and has received several honors including the Stermac Award from the Canadian Geotechnical Society in 2010 and the ASTM Award for Outstanding Article in Practice Geotechnical Testing in 2001. With extensive teaching assignments at the undergraduate and graduate levels, he is committed to advancing the education of budding engineers.
