Biography

Siva Sivoththaman is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he also serves as the Director of the Centre for Advanced Photovoltaic Display Systems (CAPDS). He completed his Doctorate in Engineering Sciences at the University of Paris XII - Créteil Val de Marne in 1993. Before joining the University of Waterloo in 2000, he worked as a Research Scientist at the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) in Belgium for six years. He has served as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs in the Faculty of Engineering, with his term concluding in August 2025. Dr. Sivoththaman has held prestigious Research Chairs and was honored with the Ontario Premier's Research Excellence Award in 2002. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has contributed significantly to various research areas including Solar Photovoltaic Technologies and Microelectronic Fabrication. He also directed the University of Waterloo's Nanotechnology Engineering Program from 2004 to 2006.
