Dr. Sivaneasan Bala Krishnan

Biography

Sivaneasan Bala Krishnan received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University in 2011 as a Research Engineer and later became a Research Fellow in 2015. He transitioned to Nanyang Polytechnic as a Lecturer in the same year and then became an Assistant Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology in 2019. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2023. Sivaneasan is a registered Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and is recognized as IEEE Industry Applications Society Distinguished Lecturer in Region 10. His research focuses on power engineering, specifically microgrids and smart grid technologies. He has published over 65 technical papers and co-authored a book chapter on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technologies. His work has earned him several awards, including the Best Innovation in Renewable Energy at the National Instruments ASEAN Graphical System Design Achievement Awards and the Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Power Engineering Applications in 2022. He has received over SGD 12 million in research grant funding, working alongside industry partners to implement new technologies that enhance productivity and sustainability.
