Biography

Siyu Liu graduated from Peking University with bachelor's degrees in Biomedical English and Psychology. He obtained a master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2010 and a doctoral degree in the field from the School of Criminal Justice at the University at Albany (SUNY) in 2014. Liu specializes in quantitative research, focusing on topics such as juvenile delinquency, police legitimacy, and the death penalty in China, with a comparative emphasis on empirical studies between China and the United States. Liu is an active member of a group of Chinese criminologists based in the U.S., presenting his research projects at more than eight prestigious universities in China. He is affiliated with the American Society of Criminology (ASC), the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), and the Association of Chinese Criminology and Criminal Justice (ACCCJ), as well as the Chinese American Professors and Professionals in Pennsylvania (CAP).
