Siyuan (Steven) Wang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Peking University in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in 2011, followed by postdoctoral training at Harvard University. He joined Yale University in late 2017 and currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and the Department of Cell Biology at the Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the spatial organization of the mammalian genome, particularly how chromatin organization affects biological functions and gene expression. He has developed novel imaging techniques, including 'chromatin tracing' and 'Multiplexed Imaging of Nucleome Architectures (MINA)', which have enabled breakthroughs in 3D genomics and multi-omics studies. His work has received numerous awards including the 2016 International Union of Pure and Applied Physics Young Scientist Prize in Biological Physics, the 2022 Pershing Square Sohn Prize for Young Investigators in Cancer Research, and the 2023 Biophysical Society Early Career Award in Physical Cell Biology. He has authored several influential publications and continues to explore the functional relationships between 3D genome architectures and various biological processes, including cancer progression and aging.
