Biography

Sjoerd Roorda is a professor in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the Université de Montréal. He is a regular researcher with the Thin Film Physics and Technology Research Group and the Quebec Research Network on Advanced Materials. Roorda also serves as the director of the Canadian Particle Accelerator Consortium. His research team aims to address practical questions surrounding hydrogen embrittlement of high-strength steels in the aerospace sector, where even minor concentrations of hydrogen can lead to sudden material failure.
