Biography

Sjoerd Vos is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, where he oversees a new 3T human MRI scanner at the National Imaging Facility. He graduated from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a BSc and MSc in Medical Physics and completed his PhD at the University Medical Center Utrecht, specializing in diffusion MRI. Following his PhD, he worked at University College London (UCL) in the Centre for Medical Image Computing, focusing on epilepsy imaging. In 2019, he took on a lecturer role at UCL in Quantitative Neuroradiology, aiming to integrate quantitative neuroimaging techniques into routine radiological practice. His work has significantly contributed to the integration of quantitative imaging analyses for dementia diagnosis and epilepsy treatment. He joined UWA in 2021 and continues collaborative research with UCL to improve surgical planning for epilepsy surgery using white matter fibre tractography.
