Biography

Slim Boumaiza is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on the definition, conceptualization, design, and realization of high-performance microwave and millimeter-wave circuits and systems for wireless communications, particularly in applications relevant to 4G, 5G, and the Internet of Things. He leads the Emerging Radio System Research Group (EmRG), conducting multidisciplinary research across semiconductor device, circuit, and system levels of radio hardware. Under his guidance, researchers explore advanced topics such as transistor modeling and characterization, ultra-wideband power amplifiers, and low-power linearization techniques. Dr. Boumaiza has published 65 refereed journal papers and authored over 120 conference publications, with 7 patents granted and 3 pending. He has delivered numerous keynotes and workshops to both academic and industry audiences. An advocate for youth outreach, Dr. Boumaiza teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring highly qualified students and post-doctoral fellows, many of whom have secured prestigious positions in the industry.
