Smruthi Karthikeyan's research interests lie at the interface of microbial ecology and computational biology engineering. She builds predictive models that integrate physicochemical transport data with multi-omic (DNA, RNA metabolome-level) data to make accurate predictions of microbial community responses to environmental perturbations. Smruthi earned her B.Tech from Anna University, Chennai in 2012, followed by an M.S. from Columbia University in 2014, and a Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2020. She is currently a Treweek Assistant Professor at Caltech and was appointed as a Hurt Scholar in 2023.
