Biography

Sneha Krishnan is an Associate Professor in Human Geography and a Tutorial Fellow at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. She joined the School of Geography and the Environment in 2018. Her research focuses on gender, domesticity, and politics in the British Colonial World, exploring themes such as girlhood, race, sexuality, and urban geographies. Sneha is currently writing a book on homemaking and caste conjugality in early 20th century India and has published works that contribute to discussions on the historical geography of women's lives in relation to caste and ethnicity. As a public scholar, her work has appeared in Verso, Public Books, and History Workshop. She is a British Academy-Wolfson Fellow and has received funding from the John Fell Fund, along with holding a Junior Research Fellowship at St John’s College. Sneha also serves on the editorial board for Gender, Place, Culture, and has been involved in various academic committees and networks focusing on social science history. Her teaching encompasses undergraduate and graduate supervision in human geography, development studies, and feminist approaches in various contexts, welcoming inquiries from students interested in feminist, queer, and post/decolonial geography topics.
