Sneha Kumar is a social demographer who examines how disruptive family transitions and macrostructural uncertainty shape family dynamics and individual health across different stages of the life course. Her research explores migration and its contributions to family health inequalities, particularly among aging individuals. Another strand of her work considers the unequal ways in which macrostructural shocks, such as Covid-19, influence the reproductive lives of young adults. Her research largely focuses on populous countries including Indonesia, Brazil, China, and India. Prior to joining Northwestern University, Sneha was a postdoctoral fellow at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
