Biography

Snehalata Sahu is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Astronomy Astrophysics group at the University of Warwick. She joined in 2022 and focuses on the study of white dwarfs, specifically analyzing high-resolution ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy data from the Hubble Space Telescope Cosmic Origins Spectrograph survey. Her research interests include examining atmospheric parameters of white dwarfs, such as effective temperature and surface gravities, using both UV and optical spectroscopy. Sahu's work aims to understand the presence of planetary debris around young white dwarfs and analyze the interstellar medium's influence on observed extinction patterns. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2020 from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bengaluru, where she researched UV stellar populations using data from various space telescopes. Sahu actively disseminates her research findings through illustrations and has a range of publications in leading astrophysical journals.
