Biography

Sofia Izquierdo Sanchez completed her PhD at Lancaster University in 2014, specializing in Consumer Producer Decisions Under Uncertainty, with a focus on the UK film industry. She joined the University of Manchester in September 2022 as a Senior Lecturer in Economics, where she also serves as the Deputy Director of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) programme. Her research interests encompass applied microeconomics, social and cultural economics, and economic education, with significant contributions to interdisciplinary projects focused on the creative industries. Currently, she is involved in the Creative Manchester project, examining the socioeconomic impacts of the theatre industry. Additionally, she has published extensively on social learning and gender differences in economics, and she is actively engaged in mentoring through various initiatives, including the Women in Economics Initiative in Manchester. Her pedagogical research aims to enhance teaching through the implementation of research-led curricula and social networks.
