Professor Dr. Sofia Lundberg

Biography

Sofia Lundberg is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Umeå University, where her research focuses on consumer behavior and procurement in applied settings. She has extensively studied retailer choice, loyalty schemes, and household demand for food, emphasizing price elasticities and distributional issues. Her work on public procurement encompasses theoretical and empirical research on purchasing policies, including green purchasing and the design of procurement procedures. Additionally, she explores the impacts of privatization in elderly care, cartel detection, and regulatory effects on public procurement. Lundberg co-leads the university's prioritized research areas in Plant Science and Sustainable Green Transformation in the Subarctic, and she holds various trust assignments within the academic sector. From September 2015 to December 2023, she served as Dean of the Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE). She is actively engaged in research evaluations with AACSB and mentoring within the academic community.
