Dr. Sofia Yasmin

Biography

Sofia Yasmin is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the Alliance Manchester Business School. She serves as the Associate Head of Social Responsibility in the Accounting Finance Division and has previously held the position of Programme Director for the MSc in Accounting. Her research interests primarily focus on critical accounting, particularly the examination of accountability practices in marginalized and politicized contexts. She has a strong inclination towards exploring governance and accountability relationships, especially those that have been directly challenged in pressurized institutional settings. Professor Yasmin's work has been disseminated in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics and the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal. She is a member of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) and is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Additionally, her expertise aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. Sofia maintains an active presence in research and collaborations that explore these significant areas.
