Sofiat Olaosebikan joined the academic staff as a lecturer in August 2020 at the University of Glasgow's School of Computing Science. She completed her PhD in July 2020, under the supervision of Prof. David Manlove, focusing on graph-theoretic tools and optimization techniques for designing efficient algorithms for matching problems. Her thesis was titled 'Student-Project Allocation Problem: Structure Algorithms'. Prior to her doctoral studies, she obtained an MSc in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in 2015, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Ibadan in 2012. Her research interests center on the design of efficient algorithms for open problems in matching theory and have included collaborations with the School of Engineering on future wireless communications algorithms and bridging reinforcement learning with matching theory. In 2023, she was recognized with the 'Exceptional Promise' endorsement by the Royal Academy of Engineering as part of the UK Global Talent scheme. She also founded and leads the Computer Science Academy Africa, an initiative that has empowered over 500 young Africans with Python programming skills through various workshops and received substantial funding for its activities. Notably, she was named a 'Future World Changer' by the University of Glasgow in 2018 and received a 'Highly Commended' acknowledgment as a finalist in the 'Top 50 Women in Engineering' in 2022 by the Women's Engineering Society.
