Biography

Sofie Behluli is an Advanced Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bern, focusing on North American literature and culture. She received her doctorate with a fully funded Berrow Foundation Scholarship from the University of Oxford, specializing in women's writing in novels about art. Sofie's research encompasses Anglo-American literature from the nineteenth century to the present, with particular interests in intermedial studies, word-image configurations, and gender studies, including affect studies. She has published numerous works and consistently presents her research at national and international conferences. In 2022, she was elected to the prestigious Swiss Young Academy. Currently, Sofie is working on a Habilitation project titled "Dis/affection in Nineteenth-Century American Literature and Culture," collaborating with several prominent scholars. Her selected publications include significant contributions to the fields of literature and visual art, and she is actively engaged in various scholarly networks within the humanities.
