Professor Dr. Sofie Hellberg

Biography

Sofie Hellberg is an Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Peace Development Research. Her research interests encompass politics, water, environmental resource governance, green governmentality, security governance, biopolitics, and sustainable development. Currently, she collaborates on various projects, including climate change policy and sustainable development education in Sweden, Rwanda, and South Africa, funded by the Swedish Energy Authority and the Swedish Research Council. Sofie’s methodology project, focusing on the relationship between governance and social sustainability in water infrastructure in South Africa, showcases her commitment to rigorous academic inquiry. She also teaches and supervises students at the bachelor's and master's levels in Global Studies and related fields, emphasizing power theories, environmental governance, and research methodologies. Sofie has contributed significantly to the academic community through various publications on topics such as water governance, biopolitics, and education for sustainable development, highlighting the complex interplay between politics, resources, and societal well-being.
