Biography

Professor Sohmyung Ha’s Integrated BioElectronics Laboratory aims to advance engineering applications of silicon integrated technology interfacing with biology. The laboratory approaches a variety of forms, ranging from implantable biomedical devices to unobtrusive wearable sensors. He received his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, Korea. Sohmyung subsequently worked as an analog mixed-signal circuit designer at Samsung Electronics in Yongin, Korea, where he was part of the engineering team responsible for some of the world’s best-selling multimedia devices. After extending his career in industry, he returned to academia as a Fulbright Scholar, obtaining his MS and PhD degrees, the latter of which was awarded the PhD thesis award in biomedical engineering from the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California San Diego in La Jolla, CA, USA in 2016.
