Dr. Solène Lardoux

Biography

Solène Lardoux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Demography at the University of Montreal. Her research focuses on the transformations in family institutions since the late 1960s in Quebec, particularly the complexities of parental trajectories and the evolving living conditions for children. She investigates the impact of family dynamics, including union formation and separation, on youth, utilizing data from the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development. Lardoux is currently leading a project examining the participation dynamics of immigrants and their descendants in Quebec society. She is also involved in research on mixed methods of analysis and demographic trends in Africa, particularly around marital unions and fertility. Lardoux's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania and she has held various research positions, including a Postdoctoral Berelson Fellowship at the Population Council. Her work has significant implications for understanding family structure and social policy regarding fertility and immigration in Canada.
