Biography

Solomon Eisenberg is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University, where he has served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs since 1998. He earned his SB, SM, and ScD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He began his career at Boston University as an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering in 1983, later becoming jointly appointed in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1985, and has also held the position of Visiting Associate Professor at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Science and Technology. Eisenberg's research focuses on understanding the functional role of electrically mediated interactions in connective tissues and membranes, along with computational modeling of electric field distributions associated with medical technologies such as electrical defibrillation and transcranial magnetic stimulation. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award and the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching at Boston University. His contributions to the field have been recognized by his election to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows in 1990.
