Biography

Professor Adhikari holds a position in Engineering Mechanics and received his PhD in 2001 as a Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust scholar at the University of Cambridge. In 2010, he received the Wolfson Research Merit Award from the Royal Society, which is a UK academy of sciences. He served as an Advanced Research Fellow funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) from 2004 to 2009 and was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize in 2007 for outstanding scholarship at the age of 35. He completed his BEng and MSc at the University of Calcutta (now Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology) and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Professor Adhikari held the inaugural Chair in Aerospace Engineering at Swansea University from April 2007 to September 2021, and previously taught at the University of Bristol from January 2003 to March 2007. His research interests encompass fundamental aspects of structural dynamics and computational mechanics, focusing on uncertainty quantification, dynamics of complex systems, and energy harvesting, with over £4.0 million in competitive research funding and more than 400 peer-reviewed journal papers published.
