Biography

Sonia Hélie is a researcher at the University Institute for Youth in Difficulty (IUJD) since 2005 and an associate professor at the School of Social Work at the University of Montreal. She is part of the research team focusing on placement and adoption in youth protection contexts. Her research interests include the epidemiology of child maltreatment and the trajectories of children within youth protection services. Hélie has led recent cycles of the Quebec incidence study on situations evaluated in youth protection, as well as the quantitative aspect of the evaluation of the impacts of the Youth Protection Act on child stability, with results submitted to the National Assembly of Quebec.
