Biography

Sonja Breinholst is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen in the Department of Clinical Child Psychology, where she leads the Center for Anxiety. She has an MSc in Psychology from the University of Copenhagen, which she obtained in 2008, and completed her PhD at the Center for Anxiety in 2017. Breinholst is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for children and adolescents. Her current research focuses on a low-resource parent-delivered self-help program for early detection, prevention, and treatment of anxiety in children in grades 1-6, known as 'FÅ STYR PÅ angsten.' This research includes a larger Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) to examine the program's effects without therapist-led workshops and to ascertain which families benefit most from the program. Breinholst has previously worked as a clinical psychologist at the Center for Cognitive Therapy and has been active in various teaching domains including clinical psychology, developmental psychology, anxiety, and depression.
