Biography

Sonja Marzi is an Assistant Professor in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University. She earned her PhD in International Development from the University of East Anglia, UK. Previously, she held a position as a Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in the School of Social and Political Science and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research incorporates feminist, anti-racist, and post-colonial theories and employs participatory research designs to reconceptualize gendered urban challenges. She utilizes cutting-edge methods, including audio-visual and digital tools, to co-produce knowledge on gendered urban inequalities affecting displaced women in Medellin and Bogota. Sonja's work aims to enhance the understanding of spatial inequalities in urban spaces, particularly regarding women and young people, and to improve social conditions in cities amidst various urban challenges.
