Dr. Sonja Reichert

Biography

Sonja Reichert is an Associate Professor in Family Medicine at Western University and a primary care physician with a focus on diabetes, multi-morbidity, and obesity. As the Brian W. Gilbert Research Chair in Primary Care Research, her work integrates exercise medicine into patient care from a primary care perspective. Reichert has contributed to several peer-reviewed articles and is a contributor to the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines, particularly focusing on diabetes remission. She has been recognized as an award-winning teacher and serves as the director of Western's PGY3 Enhanced Skills Chronic Disease Management Program. Her teaching extends to various students, including Post Graduate Family Physician Residents and Graduate candidates in Master's and Doctoral programs. Reichert holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Toronto, and a Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University.
