Dr. Sonja Santelises

Biography

Sonja Santelises is a transformative educational leader with extensive experience in urban education. As the Superintendent, she is dedicated to enhancing the educational landscape for students and communities. Santelises has served in various capacities focusing on school improvement, policy, and administration. She is also a lecturer at the Yale School of Management where she shares her expertise in educational leadership and systemic change. She holds a Doctorate in Education from Harvard University, where she specialized in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy. Her academic journey also includes a Master’s from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s from Brown University. Throughout her career, Santelises has been an advocate for equitable practices in education, striving to create opportunities for all students. Her work emphasizes the importance of planning and policy in overcoming challenges faced by urban schools.
