Dr. Sonya Lee

Biography

Sonya Lee is a Professor of Art History and is affiliated with the East Asian Languages and Cultures department at the University of Southern California. She serves as the Department Chair of East Asian Languages and Cultures. Dr. Lee specializes in religious art and architecture in China and Central Asia, and has published widely on these subjects. Her research interests include material culture along the ancient Silk Road, art ecology, Asian art collecting, and heritage conservation. She has authored several influential books, including 'Surviving Nirvana: Death and Buddha' and has contributed extensively to academic journals with articles focusing on the interplay between art and archaeology in historical contexts.
