Dr. Soo Haeng Cho

Biography

Soo-Haeng Cho is a faculty member at the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University, where he has been serving as the IBM Professor of Operations Management since 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Decisions, Operations, and Technology Management from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His professional experience includes roles as Senior Advisor at Storelink and management consultant at Arthur D. Little. He has also worked part-time with major global e-commerce platforms like Coupang, Naver, Amazon, and Rakuten in AI and data analytics for digital marketing. Dr. Cho's research interests broadly encompass retail and supply chain management, innovative operations (including AI and digital platforms), ESG, and healthcare operations. He has published over 30 papers in top scholarly journals and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the INFORMS M&SOM Journal Paper Award and the Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Accomplishments Award. He chairs multiple committees for faculty recruitment and curriculum development at the Tepper School and has created initiatives such as the Health Care Analytics concentration in the MBA program.
