Dr. Soo Kim

Biography

Soo Yeon Kim is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia's School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, holding the Korea Foundation Chair. She specializes in international political economy with a focus on trade politics. Her current research projects explore the politics of trade agreements, the rise of global economic governance by emerging powers, and regional integration in Asia. Soo Yeon teaches courses in International Political Economy, Political Trade, and Research Methods, integrating quantitative methodologies in her teaching. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. She has held prestigious fellowships at the Transatlantic Academy and the East-West Center in Washington, D.C. Furthermore, she served as the Head of the Department of Political Science at the National University of Singapore. Soo Yeon has authored and edited several significant publications in the field, contributing to major scholarly journals.
