Dr. Soohyun Lee

Biography

Soohyun Lee is a Reader in Korean East Asian Political Economy at King's College London. She joined King's after serving as a Lecturer in Comparative Politics at the University of Leeds from 2013 to 2018 and as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Oxford from 2012 to 2013. Dr. Lee holds a BSc in Political Science from Ewha Womans University in South Korea, an MSc in Social Policy Planning from the London School of Economics, and a DPhil in Social Policy from the University of Oxford. Her research interests include Political Economy, Comparative Political Economy, Public Policy, and the Welfare State, with a regional focus on East Asia and Europe. She investigates how countries in these regions address common challenges in welfare state reform. Dr. Lee has published in leading political science journals and has supervised PhD students on topics related to welfare states and labor markets in East Asia. Her work is notable for contributing to the understanding of welfare state dynamics and reforms in comparative perspective.
