Biography

Sook-Bin Woo is a professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine specializing in Oral Medicine, Infection, Immunity. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Singapore University in 1980 and subsequently worked as a general dentist and an oral maxillofacial surgery resident before moving to the United States. Woo received a Master of Science in Oral Pathology from Indiana University in 1984 and completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Pathology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1986. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and further specialized in Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, earning a Master of Medical Sciences degree in 1991. She became board-certified in Oral Maxillofacial Pathology in 1991 and in Oral Medicine in 2003. Currently, she sees patients for consultation in the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In her academic and professional career, Woo has served on the Fellowship Committee and as president of the American Academy of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology. She has published numerous scholarly papers and chapters, authored an atlas of Oral Pathology, and is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences. Her research has been recognized with awards including the National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society Career Development Award. In 2012, she received the Distinguished Senior Faculty Award from Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
