Dr. Sophie Galson

Biography

Sophie Wolfe Galson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University and an affiliate of the Duke Global Health Institute. She graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona. Her research is focused on non-communicable diseases and the linkage to care in emergency departments, particularly in Moshi, Tanzania. Dr. Galson is passionate about global health and has worked in various countries including India, Madagascar, and Tanzania, emphasizing the importance of medical training in these diverse settings. She completed a Global Health Emergency Medicine Fellowship in 2018 and is dedicated to promoting the development of emergency medicine on a global scale. In addition to her research activities, she enjoys teaching and instructing residents and medical students both in the classroom and in clinical settings within the emergency department. Dr. Galson joined the faculty at Duke Emergency Medicine following her fellowship, where she continues to contribute to medical education and practice.
