Sophie Pageon-Tamburic is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), specializing in immunology with a focus on T cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells. She earned her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at Imperial College London in 2012, where her research centered on ligand recognition of NK cell receptors using super-resolution microscopy. After relocating to Australia, she worked under the supervision of Professor Katharina Gaus at UNSW, expanding her knowledge in advanced microscopy techniques and immune cell biology from 2013 to 2016. Currently, she is part of Dr. Maté Biro's Cell Motility Mechanobiology Group at the EMBL Australia Node of Single Molecule Science (SMS), UNSW. Her research employs a combination of super-resolution microscopy, live cell imaging, and flow cytometry to decipher the molecular mechanisms that underlie the migratory behavior of immune cells and their decisions to kill target cells they encounter. She is particularly interested in the molecular cues that direct T cell migration within the tumor microenvironment.
