Biography

Sophie Terp, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and a Quintiles Clinical Fellow at the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. She completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology at Stanford University and received her MD and MPH from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Terp completed her residency training in emergency medicine at Ronald Reagan UCLA Olive View-UCLA Medical Centers and conducted a research fellowship at the University of Southern California. Over her clinical career, she has primarily worked in Los Angeles County safety-net hospitals. Her research focuses on improving access to emergency care for vulnerable patients, with a particular emphasis on the enforcement of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
