Biography

Sophie Yates is a Senior Research Fellow at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. She previously served as a Research Fellow in the Public Service Research Group at the UNSW Canberra. Sophie’s research primarily concentrates on value creation in public services, with a particular emphasis on marginalized groups. She has published work focusing on critical issues including gender, family violence, disability policy, and services for individuals transitioning out of prison. In addition to her research activities, she serves as an Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Social Issues and is a member of the editorial boards of several leading journals, including Public Management Review and the International Journal of Public Sector Management. Currently, Sophie is collaborating with Dr. Elise Remling from the University of Canberra and Dr. Katie Moon from UNSW Canberra to develop a social network-based model for community disaster preparedness. Her current projects are supported by a grant from the Asia-Pacific Innovation Program.
