Dr. Søren Andersen

Biography

Søren Stig Andersen is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Animal Law, Digital Management, and Environmental Law. His research focuses on the ethical implications of animal legislation and the legal representation of animals in various contexts, including criminal and civil litigation. In particular, he investigates the societal perceptions of human-animal relations and their influences on animal welfare cases in Danish courts. Andersen is actively involved in the ANIMALAW project, a comprehensive interdisciplinary study aimed at enhancing understanding of Danish animal welfare offenses and their legal implications. He has also explored the legal framework for the digitalization of the public sector, examining the roles of machine learning and AI in legal processes. He teaches courses such as 'Systems, Theories and Methodologies in Law' at the University of Copenhagen and contributes to academic discussions at Aarhus University.
