Biography

Soulaymane Kachani is a faculty member at the Columbia University Data Science Institute and holds the position of Senior Vice Provost in Columbia Engineering. He is a Professor of Professional Practice in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. His research focuses on pricing, revenue management, logistics, supply chain management, algorithmic trading, and transportation analysis. He teaches courses in quantitative corporate finance, industrial economics, operations consulting, logistics, and production inventory planning. Kachani is a Senior Editor for the Production Operations Management journal and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Revenue Pricing Management. Before joining Columbia University, he worked as a senior consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he continues to consult for large corporations on issues related to pricing, supply chain management, operations, asset management, and corporate finance. He has developed successful data-driven pricing models and algorithms used across various industries, including retail, manufacturing, distribution, high tech, real estate, travel, financial services, and fashion media. Kachani holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Master of Science in Operations Research from MIT, as well as a Diplôme d’Ingénieur in Applied Mathematics from École Centrale Paris.
