Dr. Soummya Kar

Biography

Soummya Kar is a Buhl Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his B.Tech. in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2005, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. After completing his doctoral studies, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Electrical Engineering Department at Princeton University from June 2010 to 2011. His research interests include decision-making in large-scale networked systems, stochastic systems, multi-agent systems, data science, and applications in cyber-physical systems and smart energy systems. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), recognized for his contributions to technology and engineering. Throughout his career, Soummya has been actively involved in advancing research and education in electrical and computer engineering, while participating in various projects and initiatives related to the Internet of Things and energy sustainability.
