Biography

Soummya Kar is the Buhl Professor in Electrical Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his B.Tech. in Electronics Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 2005, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA in 2010. He completed a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Electrical Engineering Department at Princeton University in 2011. His research interests focus on decision-making in large-scale networked systems, stochastic systems, and multi-agent systems, with applications in data science, cyber-physical systems, and smart energy systems. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.
