Biography

Sourojeet Chakraborty is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, an MSc from Imperial College London, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University. His research interests encompass fundamental and applied transport phenomena, complex fluids (emulsions and suspensions), low Reynolds number hydrodynamics, drainage confinement, wetting, colloidal transport, and intermolecular surface forces. In addition to his engineering expertise, Chakraborty actively publishes in the area of engineering education, focusing on pedagogical innovation, curricular revamp in Higher Education Institutes, and various student learning modalities such as active and experiential learning. He has extensive experience advising undergraduate students on capstone design projects and has collaborated with leading chemical engineering firms including BASF, GlaxoSmithKline, and Dow. Chakraborty has been recognized with several awards, such as the Student Life Catalyst Award and the H.L. Roy Memorial Silver Medal, among others. He is also involved in service roles, including being a Junior Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto, and participating in the Finance & Audit Committee.
