Souvik Naha obtained his BA in History from Presidency College in Kolkata and an MA and MPhil in Modern History from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. His doctoral research at ETH Zurich, funded by the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, examined how journalists and broadcasters popularized cricket as an ideal everyday leisure activity in twentieth-century Calcutta. This work highlighted the dynamics of cultural transfer and the afterlife of colonialism, integrating the histories of everyday life, popular culture, and regional politics within a transnational context. His research led to a monograph that explored cricket as a tool for Bengalis in postcolonial Calcutta to understand the formation of cultural communities and create new social relationships. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, he held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship at Durham University, extending his work on decolonization and examining the significance of cricket in reshaping the Indo-British relationship post-India's independence, focusing on issues of race, mobility, migration, diplomacy, and environment.
