Soytavanh started working in sustainable natural resources management and rural livelihoods in 2008 as a government officer at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Laos. His associated research projects have focused on integrated transboundary natural resources management and community livelihoods. His postdoctoral work, primarily undertaken as an independent consultant, focuses on analyzing food and fiber production systems and value chains related to livelihoods, aiming to inform policy and practice interventions that strengthen sustainability and resilience.
