Dr. Sparkle Malone

Biography

Sparkle L. Malone is an Assistant Professor at the Yale School of the Environment and the Center for Natural Carbon Capture at Yale University. Her research focuses on carbon dynamics and ecosystem function, particularly in the context of fire effects, post-fire recovery, and natural carbon capture (CO2, CH4). She aims to build natural climate solutions that benefit both wildlife and people. Sparkle is currently accepting doctoral students as she transitions into this role. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Alabama and both an MS and BS from the University of Florida. Through her work, Sparkle contributes to the understanding of how ecosystems can adapt to and mitigate climate change through carbon capture strategies.
