Biography

Spencer Koerner is a Lecturer in the Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He completed a Ph.D. in the Department of Statistics & Data Science at CMU, where he worked under the supervision of Rob Kass. His research focuses on diverse neuroscientific applications, primarily estimating low dimensional latent dynamical systems and modeling the correlation structure between neurons. A significant aspect of his work includes the estimation of neural synchrony and the study of large sparse networks. Additionally, he utilizes point process models for analyzing neural spiking data. Before his current role, Koerner engaged in a postdoctoral stint in the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Psychiatry.
