Biography

Spencer Parsons is an Associate Professor at Northwestern University's School of Communication. He is an accomplished filmmaker, recognized for his feature film, 'Saturday Morning Massacre,' which premiered at the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival and won an award at the 2012 Minneapolis Underground Film Festival. His other notable works include the feature 'I'll Come Running' and several award-winning short films such as 'Chainsaw Found Jesus,' 'Once Future Asshole,' 'Resolution,' and 'Common Confuxion.' Parsons has also served as a senior programmer for the Cinematexas International Short Film Festival in Austin, Texas, from 2000 to 2003, and has continued as a board member and curator-at-large since 2007. His curatorial work includes programs at prestigious festivals such as Thessaloniki Film Festival in Greece and L'Alternativa in Spain, among others. Parsons has been involved with the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival as part of the programming committee and has served on awards juries for prominent festivals including SXSW, Sundance Film Festival, and the Chicago Underground Film Festival. His writing has been featured in various publications including Austin Chronicle, Cinespect, Film Focus, and Filmmaker Magazine. He teaches courses in Advanced Production, Directing Actors Camera, and Media Production at Northwestern University.
