As a lecturer in Social Geography and Urban Planning, I am involved in multiple bachelor courses. I supervise theses and conduct (work) lectures, which excite me due to the integration of both quantitative and qualitative skills. My master's thesis focused on researching the Symbiocene; an alternative epoch where there is a mutually reinforcing relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Urban Futuring and More-than-human geographies in the Anthropocene are recurring themes in my work. Teaching provides the ideal environment for me to work on socially relevant topics, to inspire others as an educator, and equally important, to be inspired by the teaching team and students. In addition to my teaching role, I am also involved as a researcher in the UUtopia project. UUtopia is an emerging Urban Living Lab in Utrecht, adopting a place-based approach to co-creation with local communities, where an infrastructure is developed for long-term engagement and mutual learning between residents, researchers, students, and societal partners.
